If I open this site and see one more tragically hip goth girl, or wannabe Eric Draven, especially those with blood featured prominantly in the piece; if I see one more badly done Anime figure with "Precious Moments" eyes and Pokemon mouth; if I see one more disparaging remark meant to wound rather than support, I think I'll go runing into the street screaming. What the fuck ever happened to innovation and orginality? Why the desperate cookie cutter menality that excludes all efforts which do not fall within a certain "outcast mainstream's" approval? I see so many trying to paint themselves as the misunderstood artist, the loner, the disaffected -=eyeroll=- Here's a thought: perhaps individuation should start with daring to bring something forth that isn't just another version of what has already been done to death.
What brought this rant on? I just read a lovely poem listed in Favorites of the Day. As I scrolled down through the Comments, some asshat posted a "War and Peace" length comment that basically boiled down to: "Waaaaaaa no one ever clicks on *my* poetry. Waaaaaaa *I'm* so good and no one notices. Waaaaaa *my* stuff is sooo much better (AND provided links...can you say pageview whore?) as examples of how poetry should be written. Well, I read those links, much to my chagrin, and it *did* remind me of a famous author: Dr. Suess...say it with me..."One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish..." I have a late breaking world news flash: rhyme and meter alone do not make it poetry. The Free Verse piece linked was equally unimpressive: forced and stilted, filled with mind numbing alliteration and the obligatory dripping blood, yet I forced myself to finish it. Yes, I know what I'm typing is not supportive either; however, this person offered his/her work up as a model of what is good and worthy, as an example of how poetry should be written. I'm an English teacher; I can say this person is, at best, delusional. The piece s/he critiqued was far superior, and best of all innovative and original. Okay, I'm done now. Had to get that off my chest, and better here than in a Reply to that negative, whiny, condescending Comment.--AG

Devious Journal Entry
First, apologies to all those on my Watch List and clubs. I've been busier than a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest this week, and all my pleasures are on hold. I have so many items in my Message Centre that it will take me a few days to work through them all and give each the atention it deserves, so please be patient with me. Now, for your viewing pleasure, here is the third part of my series. Peace out.--AG
Diamonds in the Dust III
We are now on installment three of this series. To view the others, click on Previous Journals in the bar below. As you may have noticed by now, I'm featuring 3D art first, but I assure you, I will get

Diamonds in the Dust II
This is the second in the series. We all benefit and grow not only from practicing our art, but from the input we receive from our fellow artists. If you were pleased with the art featured last time http://amazinggrace.deviantart.com/journal/6828698/ you will be happily surprised by this group. All of these artists have under 3K views :( It's time they got some encouragement, so please visit them and share the love

Who *ARE* all these people...
...and why are they looking at me?? :fear:
Seriously, thankyouthankyouthankyou to all who have visited my page, viewed my Gallery, and left a love pat or death threat. I'm deeply grateful for each and every one of you  I'm totally shocked that I have over 5K views :wow: :faint: What that means to me is that many of you have seen some of my featured artists and hopefully visited their pages as well :D
In honor of breaking the big 5K, I'm going to begin a feature I've been planning for a while called Diamonds in the Dust: art that has had far too few views. Each of the artists below has had less than 5K views!! There are others w

EDIT***10-01-05
This is supposed to be dedicated to my fave photographers, but I have to give all my Poser buds a heads-up...there's a "new kid in town" and he's kicking out some seriously intense renders. Run, don't walk, to check out his Gallery ~bishopharber (https://www.deviantart.com/bishopharber) (neener neener, no thumbs, you have to go there to see :D )

In all fairness, I know exactly diddly squat about photography, but this time out I'm featuring those artists in what I call my Fotolicious category. These are artists whose lenses have given me a different view of our world. Their work will show you the depth and breadth of what can be captured in a si
